Glenbeigh is pleased to host Dr. Theodore Parran as the featured speaker for the January 11, 2021 virtual Rise and Shine educational program. Dr. Parran will present on the topic of "New Substance Use Disorder Trends and Emerging Treatment Strategies". This program will cover two distinct areas. Participants will learn about the emerging stimulant epidemic and the changing epidemiology in psycho stimulant use. They will also explore increasing alcohol challenges and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on alcohol use patterns. 

Dr. Parran is the current Medical Director at Glenbeigh hospital. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Baltimore City Hospital of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the past recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Teacher Award from the Department of Medicine. Dr. Parran returned to Cleveland and pursues several areas of special interest in medical education. Those interests include: Doctor-Patient Communications, Faculty Development, Continuing Medical Education and Addiction Medicine. 

Dr. Parran is certified by the American Society on Addiction Medicine and his group practice provides medical directorship services to several Substance Abuse treatment programs in northeast Ohio. He is widely published and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Parran established the Addiction Fellowship Program at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and teaches on the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship faculty. He co-directs the current Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland. Dr. Parran is the medical director of the Program in Continuing Medical Education and in 2007 was named as the Isabel and Carter Wang Professor and Chair in Medical Education, all at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
